Sole Retreat Reflexology

Many people with cancer say that they gain a lot of benefit from using reflexology because it helps them forget about everything for a while and just relax and relieves some of the discomfort. They like the idea that it is something that can help them in a safe and painless way without further drugs. It is often said that there is a sense of taking back some control and feeling more motivated optimistic and hopeful. Sometimes it is to seek the comfort from touch, talk and time.

Reflexology has been found to complement conventional cancer therapies such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. Through relaxation reflexology helps the patient to cope better with symptoms, reduce stress and anxiety and calm emotions and to increase a sense of health and well being which all play an important part in our coping mechanism.

Research is still in the relatively early days, however reflexology is being used more and more in UK hospitals for cancer patients.

    Things you can do:-
  • Recognize how much your life has changed and consider how well you have coped.
  • Remember you are still the same person inside
  • Retain as much contact with your normal life as possible
  • Do things you are good at and enjoy
  • Confront the changes rather than avoid them
  • Maintain activities that give you pleasure
  • Try to prevent your illness and its treatment becoming the central focus of your life
